Are You a Fit for Pilocon Content?

What is Pilocon in a nutshell?

Piloted Connections are what we try to help individual disciples of Christ develop. The term is shortened to Pilocon. The concept is that of a harbor pilot that boards a ship to help navigate local waters at it enters port.

Pilocon exhorts disciples of Christ to fully engage with the Holy Spirit on the journey of life.

We assist individuals with piloted connections to spur thought with questions through points to ponder, focused times of reflection and planning, encouraging words of support, stimuli to build community and exhortation to spur growth.

How does Pilocon help me make piloted connections?

In the past knowledge was difficult to come by with the sources having limited access. The knowledge was obtained via a local expert, doctor, lawyer, pastor, teacher, professor, encyclopedia, books or local library. Today knowledge is simply a commodity that is freely and easily obtained. This is a big shift that needs to be fully realized and embraced since in the past piloted connections would have been focused on finding concrete answers.

This led to knowledge gathering by select experts and individuals learning from them via books, conferences or online and applying their findings to their life. We still accepted the expert's knowledge as applicable in a direct manner in our life for the most part. While this approach is still viable and used today, individuals take the knowledge sharing as information not the single point of truth. The information is readily available from many people and sources with varying opinions on any given topic. Our appetite for information is overwhelming and leads to confusion with so many opinions to filter. Discerning what is or is not applicable to us as individuals is confusing and often difficult.

The approach we take is to give you introspective questions so you can discover personal answers. The questions are meant to challenge your discipleship, behavior, journey and connections for things you control in life. Given that knowledge is a commodity that you are ingesting continually, we try to give you questions which help you focus on your life as a disciple directly.

Who is Pilocon's avatar or target person?
  • A follower of Christ who desires to fully engaged with your life's journey as His disciple.

  • An involved member of a local church involved in a small group within that church.

  • An individual who is not afraid to explore and change themselves rather than look to change or deflect blame to other people or organizations.

  • Someone who accepts the word of God as inerrant and is willing shift behavior to conform His standard of truth.

  • An individual who is taking responsibility for his or her personal actions and attitudes with a desire to continually mature on their journey with Christ.

Is Pilocon a fit for me?

This is a place to challenge yourself to intentionally grow in faith and maturity. The connections you make here with fellow disciples of Christ should challenge you. The tension of growth will be felt in differing ways as you work out your salvation in an intentional manner. At times we will exhort in uncomfortable ways but other times we will provide a warm feeling of encouragement. We are not here to change you, we are here to help you follow the Holy Spirit and change yourself as He shapes and molds you as a disciple of His, not ours.

The disciple's journey of life should be dynamic and ever-changing. Pilocon strives to simply be a tool of challenge. We do not have answers for you to go out and execute, we aim to assist your growth by giving you questions that only you can answer. The answers you discover will change as you go through the various stages of life. The answer you find as a single person may not be the same as a married person or a mother or father. That's a part of the dynamic maturation process of a true disciple of Christ.

What are some things you won't find here?

We are not a substitute for the local church.

  • The local church should be a vital part of every disciple's life.

  • The local church is where your primary discipleship leader resides.

  • We have no desire to usurp the authority of your pastor.

  • We have a desire to enhance your relationship with your local church leadership as you mature in discipleship.

  • The local church is where the doctrine you follow is observed.

  • Any changes to your doctrine should always be filtered through your local church leadership.

  • The local church is where your primary personal relationships in discipleship are made.

We are not a platform of doctrinal or theological debate.

  • We understand the fact that scripture is interpreted different amongst believers.

  • We will not engage in specific theological debates.

  • Any attempt to do so via comments or any community areas we develop will be deleted.

  • There are avenues for debates and apologetic arguments but this is not one of them.

  • This is one of the areas that we want you to pursue with your local church leadership, not a group of online believers.
