Who is behind this, and does it matter?
Less than you might think. I would rather you weigh the work than the man who made it. But you deserve to know who is writing to you, so here it is plainly.
Ron Robison
I spent twenty-five years in the Air Force forecasting weather. It is a trade built entirely on the admission that conditions are going to change and you are going to have to correct. It turns out to be reasonable training for writing about following Christ. I have also served in pastoral work, and I am retired from corporate life.
I’m not writing from the far side of the finish line. I’m decades into the same wobble you’re in, still correcting, still pressing on. What I have is a long run of logbook pages: insights, reflections, and the honest acknowledgment of where I drifted. There are enough of them now to read the chart behind me, and I’d like to show you what it actually looks like.
What the name means
Pilocon is short for piloted connections.
Have you ever watched a harbor pilot work? When a ship comes to the harbor, the pilot comes out to meet it, climbs aboard, and takes it through a channel he knows better than anyone on deck. Then, once the ship is clear, he climbs back down the ladder and goes home. He never sails the voyage. The voyage belongs to the ship.
That is the picture behind the name, and it is worth getting the roles right. You are the sailor. The Holy Spirit fills the sails. You hold the rudder, which is your actions and your attitudes, the only two things you control, and you make the small corrections that keep you on Christ’s heading. A book, a friend, a church can come alongside for a stretch of water, and the good ones know when to climb off.
Pilocon is meant to be that kind of pilot: come alongside for a stretch, then step back and leave you to the voyage. Pilocon LLC publishes the Wobble Factor series and the Disciple’s Compass.
Who it’s for
The one still looking. That is a posture, not a profile. It might be a newer believer who hasn’t settled yet, or a long-time believer who has refused to. You probably look like everyone else on Sunday, which means I can’t pick you out. So I try to make the work something you can find, and trust the rest to the Holy Spirit.
How the work is made
Do you need artificial intelligence to follow Christ? No. Nothing I make will tell you otherwise. A notebook and a pen are enough for the whole practice.
I do use an AI assistant in my own work. It reads my notes, helps me keep the daily loop, and helps me draft, including these pages. I think of it as an amplifier, not the engine: it can make a practice louder, but it cannot be the practice. I read every line that goes out under my name, and I own every word. If something here is wrong, it is mine to correct.
Write to me
Have you taken the question at the end of one of the books to a real table? Did you recognize a wobble and do something about it? I’d like to hear the story, if you choose to tell it.
Write to me at ron@pilocon.com. What you send stays between us. I will never share your story without asking you first.
