PILOCONChief of Staff
In progress · A new direction for Pilocon

Every small business deserves a Chief of Staff.

Pilocon is becoming a platform company to give them one.

Large companies hire a chief of staff to keep the owner's day clear and the whole team moving. Most small businesses never will. The Pilocon Chief of Staff is an AI that does that job. It runs on a small server the business owns, and it puts each person's day in front of them.

The problem

Small businesses run on inboxes and text messages

  • 01The owner manages the company out of an email inbox that never gets to zero.
  • 02The team coordinates by text. Requests get buried, and nobody can see who has what.
  • 03The software that fixes this is a stack of monthly subscriptions that don't talk to each other.

The idea

A full staff, in plain business terms

How it works

One place to talk. Everyone's day, live.

  1. Say it or type it, from any devicePhone, tablet or computer. Each person has one place to talk to, like a text thread.
  2. The Chief of Staff files it, routes it and confirms itIt reaches the right person in seconds, with a receipt, so nothing gets lost.
  3. Every person gets their own daily briefWhat's theirs today, what's waiting on them, and what's due this week.
Team member · 10:14Client called. She wants to move Thursday's appointment to Friday morning.
Chief of Staff · 10:14Got it. Sent to the office manager to confirm with the client. It's on tomorrow's brief until it's settled.

What makes it different

Built the way we'd want it for ourselves

  • Your server, your dataA small box in your own office. The business owns the record, not a vendor.
  • Works with what you haveIt connects to the email and calendar you already use. No new mail system.
  • Any AI modelSwitch models as better ones arrive, and run one locally when that's practical.
  • Plain files underneathEverything it keeps is readable text you can open without us. No lock-in.
  • Personal stays personalWork items flow to the business. Anyone's private notes never do.
  • A low running costIt replaces the stack of monthly subscriptions instead of adding to it.

Where it stands

Pilocon goes first

  2. Next
Pilocon runs on its own Chief of StaffDaily briefs, email and calendar, voice. I won't ask a business to trust something I haven't run myself.
  3. Then

  4. Later
Churches, on the same modelA staff, its people, and each person's day.

Where it came from

Same way of working, a different calling

For the past several months I've run my own life this way: one folder of plain notes, an AI assistant that reads them, a short list of roles that each own one part of the work, and a page each morning with the day in front of me. That practice is the Disciple's Compass, and it stays exactly what it is: a way of following Christ.

The Chief of Staff takes the same way of working and builds it for a business.

Does this sound like your week? If you run a small business and you're carrying the chief of staff's job yourself, write to me and tell me what it looks like. I read every one.
